Mt Vernon United Church of Christ: Local-foods dinner & movie screening
Mardi Roots!
What: A mid-winter local foods meal followed by a screening of the new food movie,
New Thinking about What We’re Eating
Event details at: www.freshthemovie.com
When: February 16, 2010 (Mardi Gras)
Supper at 6 PM; Movie at 7PM
Where: Mt Vernon United Church of Christ
1693 Washington St.
Mt Vernon, WI 53593
Why?: What are we eating? How it is grown? How far is it shipped? How is it prepared? What does all this mean to our health and our local farm economy? These are questions we need answers to.
Why?: To gain inspiration for eating locally in the middle of winter (anyone can do it in September). You’ll be surprised at what can be made of turnips and sweet potatoes and pasture raised chickens.
Why?: For the fun of listening to local food pioneers like Wisconsin’s Will Allen and Virginia’s Joel Salatin and America’s Michael Pollan.
For the pleasure of sitting down to a delicious meal with like-minded folks who care about their food and their community.
Details: Reservations are required!!
Cost is $12.00 for adults; $10.00 kids under 12.
Seating is limited to 100 (sorry—that’s all the room we have)
