John Rider and Terri Felton, long-time local Sierra Club leaders, will share and discuss their December 2006 trip to Tongariro National Park in the center of New Zealand's North Island. New Zealand's first national park, Tongariro features unique volcanic landforms and is a dual World Heritage area, recognized for its important Maori cultural and spiritual associations as well as its outstanding volcanic eatures. The 4-day Tongariro Northern Circuit is one of New Zealand's "Great Walks" and includes the Tongariro Crossing, billed as the greatest one-day walk in New Zealand.
