L’Etoile’s Chef Tory Miller invited to cook at the James Beard Awards Gala

The James Beard House Awards Gala Celebration, one of the premier events in the food industry, is on Sunday June 8th.  Chef Tory Miller is delighted that the theme for this year’s awards ceremony is Artisanal America – the craft of cuisine.  

Chef Tory Miller is honored that he has been invited to return to the Beard House to cook as a guest chef for this year’s Awards Gala. 

“It is always a pleasure to cook for the James Beard House; the pleasure is even greater, since the theme selected for this year’s ceremony is one that has always been very important to me,” said Chef Miller.  “It is an exceptional honor to be selected to join the ranks of these guest chefs who are also passionate about local food.”

According to the Beard House web site, “The chefs cooking at this year’s Gala Reception have been selected with the help of our co-chair chefs for their long-standing support and commitment to America’s culinary artisans. They form a diverse group of chefs from across the country, each dedicated to using locally produced, sustainable, seasonable products – the true foundation of American cuisine.” 

To top off the evening the guest chefs who have close working relationships with their farmers were asked if they wanted to bring the farmers with them to the event. 

Tory knows so many farmers that it is always challenging to choose, but he is thrilled that John and Dorothy Priske from Fountain Prairie Farm will be joining him at the Awards Gala. 

“I love working with John and Dorothy’s beef and I look forward to sharing it with an even larger audience,” says Miller.  “The fact that they will be there with me in New York will create an even bigger impact on each guest who gets to taste their beef.”

Tory takes great pride in sharing Wisconsin’s bounty with his guests all of the time, so as he did on his last trip to the Beard House, Tory will be showcasing as many of our delicious local ingredients as possible in his menu item!
