The Empowerment Café Opens New Venue for Learning
The Empowerment Café is the brainchild of local business woman, mother and youth advocate, Dolores Kokinos. After several years of research into the ways in which people learn, overcome obstacles, and empower themselves to reach goals, Dolores started offering classes and workshops to area organizations, businesses and individuals in 2005. Her success in reaching at-risk youth, those in the corporate world, friends and colleagues inspired her to offer her methods and theories to the larger community.
The Empowerment Café opened its doors in February, 2008 and offers a wide range of opportunities for exploration and self-empowerment for all ages. Workshops are targeted to many specific groups including women, entrepreneurs, business leaders, parents, students, teachers, youth care professionals, life coaches and sports coaches. Each class is designed to address common emotions, frustrations, and challenges which cause stress, and lead to living a less fulfilling life than is possible.
“The opening of The Empowerment Café is the fulfillment of a long-time dream,” says Dolores. “Being involved in home schooling my three children, and passionately believing in, and experiencing the potential of the human spirit to overcome adversity through education is what brings this dream to life for me. It is so rewarding to be able to share what I’ve learned with others, and to offer this space and opportunity to the community.”
Upcoming workshops include: Overcoming Procrastination for entrepreneurs, Strengthen & Deepen Your Relationship for couples, What Are Your Family Goals This Year? for parents, Fill Your Classroom With Motivated Students for teachers, and Life Goals for Seniors. Each workshop is a 2-3 hour format, held at The Empowerment Café on Cottage Grove Road.
The Café’s comfortable, inviting atmosphere invites deep conversation, and shared explorations among participants. Close proximity to bus lines, the Pinney Branch Library, the YMCA, Monona Drive and Hwy 51 ensures easy access for all. The space is also available for rent by groups for meeting space or gatherings.
