In the 1960s, Memphis' 1,300 sanitation workers formed the lowest caste of a deeply racist society, earning so little they qualified for welfare. When they go on strike, Martin Luther King, Jr. decides to expand his Poor People's Campaign and, ignoring his more liberal advisors, comes to Memphis where he is eventually assassinated. Sponsored by Wisconsin Professional Employees Council (WPEC) and the South Central Federation of Labor (SCFL).
