Habitat ReStore Seeking Artists for Annual Salvage Art Show

The Habitat ReStore is seeking artists for its annual Salvage Art Show. Artist applications for the show are due May 22. Pieces submitted for the Fall show must have a salvage component and may include found objects, recycled or reused materials. Pieces submitted will be sold through a silent and online auction. The show will be held from Oct. 1-29 at State Street Gallery, 109 State St., Madison.

The show will be juried by professional artists. Interested artists are asked to submit three examples of their work, which will be evaluated on originality, design, composition, subject matter, salvage components and skill. There is no jury fee. Artists selected for the show will receive a $15 voucher for materials from the Habitat ReStore, 208 Cottage Grove Road, Madison.
Artwork examples from the 2009 show included paintings on scrap lumber or other building materials, jewelry created from antique tools or watches and garden ironwork projects.

Proceeds from the show will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. For an artist application or for more information, contact Jen at 661-2813 or go to www.restoredane.org.

The Salvage Art Show supports the mission of the Habitat ReStore to keep reusable materials out of the landfill and helps Habitat for Humanity build more homes with low income families here in Dane County.
